Action Networks

Action Networks are groups of individuals, parents, students and practitioners working together to identify and implement practices that impact our community. Three action networks have been formed: Kindergarten Readiness, College and Career Readiness, and Adult Learning.

Kindergarten Readiness

The vision for the Kindergarten Readiness action network is that children birth to age five have the social, emotional, physical and intellectual foundation to be successful in education and in life. The mission is to assure a coordinated system of community resources and supports to assist all families in providing a great start for their children from birth through age five.

College and Career Readiness

The mission of the College and Career Readiness action network is to help youths improve in the areas of academics, healthy living and social/emotional health and development. Its focus is to offer services to all students, with an emphasis on low-income students who will be the first generation of their families to seek education beyond high school. The College and Career Readiness action network also will help connect students to resources within the community.

Adult Learning

The goal of the Adult Learning action network is for adults to have the educational level and skills to be successful at work, at home and in the community. It plans to leverage the adult literacy system-building already achieved by the Adult Literacy Collaborative, which has been actively improving workforce development and adult learning through increased literacy in Kalamazoo County since 2011. The Collaborative consists of 20 community agencies aligning their resources to develop and put into practice adult literacy instruction.
